Dean Huijsen: the reference on the chest

Dean Huijsen emerged as one of Europe's most highly regarded young centre-backs through an unusually rapid series of steps. Born in Amsterdam and raised in Spain, he spent time in Málaga's academy before joining Juventus. Senior experience with Juventus and a loan at Roma was followed by a 2024 move to Bournemouth, where his calm possession, height and willingness to carry the ball drew wider attention. Real Madrid signed him in 2025, adding a defender comfortable starting attacks as well as contesting the penalty area. After representing the Netherlands at youth level, Huijsen chose Spain at senior international level and became part of a new generation of Spanish defenders.
