Deco Porto Hoodie | Players Couture

Deco was the creative heart of the José Mourinho Porto side that won the Champions League in 2004, stunning Manchester United in the round of sixteen with one of the most famous results in the competition's modern history and going on to defeat Monaco in the final. The Brazilian-born Portuguese international was the key to how Porto played — his vision, his passing and his ability to control the tempo made him indispensable to a side that punched far above its expected weight.

Porto's Champions League victory was built on collective organisation, but Deco was the individual who made it function creatively. His ability to find the right pass in tight spaces, to accelerate attacks and to contribute goals from midfield gave Mourinho's side a quality that the budget of the club would not normally have suggested was possible at that level. His subsequent moves to Barcelona and Chelsea showed that the Champions League performance was not a fluke — but it was at Porto that the story began, and that victory in 2004 remains one of the most remarkable achievements in the competition's history.
