Fernando Gomes Porto Hoodie | Players Couture

Fernando Gomes won the European Golden Boot in consecutive seasons — 1983 and 1984 — scoring 36 goals each time and becoming the first player to win the award twice in succession. The Porto striker's prolific record was a reflection of a footballer who had developed his finishing to an extraordinary level of reliability, and whose goals carried Porto through a period of domestic dominance in Portuguese football that set the platform for their later European success under managers including José Mourinho.

Gomes spent the majority of his career at Porto, winning multiple Portuguese titles and contributing goals at a rate that made him the most celebrated Portuguese striker of his generation. His record of back-to-back European Golden Boots was not matched until Cristiano Ronaldo began to accumulate them at the very top of the sport three decades later. Porto supporters recognise him as one of the great players in the club's history — a striker who delivered when it mattered across a sustained period rather than in individual flashes of brilliance.
