The spaghetti legs in the 1984 European Cup final. Bruce Grobbelaar deliberately wobbled his legs during Roma's penalties to put the takers off — and it worked. Two missed penalties. Liverpool won. It was one of the most brazen and brilliant pieces of psychological football in the competition's history, and it typified the eccentric genius of Liverpool's most entertaining goalkeeper.

Bruce Grobbelaar joined Liverpool from Vancouver Whitecaps in 1981 and spent thirteen seasons at Anfield — part of the most successful era in the club's history. Six league titles, a European Cup and two FA Cups. His acrobatics, his shot-stopping and his willingness to do the unexpected made him one of the most talked-about goalkeepers of his era. For Zimbabwe he was the first-choice keeper across a long international career. His post-football life brought legal difficulties and controversy, but his contribution to Liverpool's golden era is undeniable.
