Peter Beardsley Newcastle United Hoodie | Players Couture

Peter Beardsley had two spells at Newcastle United — the first in the early 1980s when he helped the club return to the First Division, and the second in the 1990s under Kevin Keegan when he was a key part of the Entertainers side that came so close to winning the Premier League. The second spell, which brought him back to Tyneside after his years at Liverpool, Everton and his England career, was a homecoming that Beardsley and the Gallowgate both clearly needed.

Beardsley's quality was in his vision and his ability to create from just behind the strikers — whether that was supporting Alan Shearer in the Entertainers years or working alongside Gary Lineker and John Barnes for England. His 59 international caps were earned across tournaments where he was consistently England's most creative option, and his ability to read the game and contribute without needing to be the most visible player on the pitch made him one of the most respected footballers of his generation across the football community.
