Ruud Gullit Netherlands Hoodie | Players Couture Icon Frame Collection
Ruud Gullit is one of the most complete footballers European football has produced. His dreadlocks, his physique, his technique and his ability to dominate matches from any position in the forward line made him one of the most physically and technically exceptional players of his generation. This Gullit hoodie from Players Couture is for fans of the Netherlands and AC Milan legend who want to wear the name of a player who was genuinely exceptional. Fan apparel celebrating one of the great players of the 1980s and 1990s.
Gullit was born in Amsterdam in 1962 and came through Haarlem and Feyenoord before PSV Eindhoven recognised his potential. AC Milan paid a then-record fee of £6.5 million to sign him in 1987, and his time at the club alongside Marco Van Basten and Frank Rijkaard produced two European Cups and two Serie A titles in one of the most celebrated club sides European football has produced. Gullit could play anywhere across the front line, but his best position was as a sweeping forward who could dribble, head, create and finish with an authority that derived from both his technical quality and his extraordinary physical gifts.
He won the Ballon d'Or in 1987, one of the finest players in the world recognised as the best. For the Netherlands, he was the captain when they won Euro 1988, scoring twice in the final against the Soviet Union including an outstanding headed goal that made the score 2-0. He lifted the trophy as captain and gave the Netherlands their first major tournament victory. He went on to play for Sampdoria, Lazio, Chelsea and Manchester City and later managed Chelsea, winning the FA Cup in 1997. He earned 66 caps for the Netherlands and is remembered as one of the finest all-round players the country has produced. Find more from the football fanwear collection at Players Couture.
