Sergio Agüero's goal in the 93rd minute of the final day of the 2011-12 Premier League season — scored against Queens Park Rangers to win Manchester City's first title in 44 years — is the most dramatic moment in the competition's history, and one of the most watched clips in football history. The Argentine's 260 goals for the club across eleven seasons make him the highest scorer in Manchester City's history by an enormous margin, and the most important player in the club's transformation from occasional contenders into serial champions.

Agüero's combination of quick feet in tight spaces, clinical finishing from close range and his ability to appear in the right position with remarkable regularity gave City an attacking platform throughout their most successful period. Five Premier League titles, one FA Cup and the highest individual goal tally in the club's history represent a contribution that no single City player has come close to matching. When he left Anfield in 2021, the standing ovation he received from the Etihad was the recognition of supporters who understood precisely what they had witnessed over eleven seasons.
