Andrea Pirlo Juventus T-Shirt | Players Couture

Andrea Pirlo joined Juventus on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2011 — which Milan considered the end of his career at the highest level and Juventus correctly identified as an opportunity. In Turin he won four consecutive Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and reached the Champions League final in 2015. The regista, who orchestrated from deep, became the most important player in a side that dominated Italian football throughout the decade.

Pirlo's second chapter at Juventus demonstrated something that the greatest players have always understood: that intelligence and technique compensate for what age takes away in terms of pace. He was slower in his Juventus years than he had been at Milan. He was also better. His positioning, his passing and his ability to control the tempo of matches improved as his physical attributes declined, making him a genuine anomaly in a sport that routinely discards midfielders in their early thirties.
