Born on January 9, 2002, in Esmeraldas, Ecuador, Piero Hincapié has rapidly ascended the ranks of international football. Beginning his professional career with Independiente del Valle, he contributed to their U-20 Copa Libertadores victory in 2020. His talent soon led him to Argentina's Talleres, where his performances attracted attention from European clubs.

In August 2021, Hincapié joined Germany's Bayer 04 Leverkusen, marking the start of an impressive European tenure. By the 2023-2024 season, he played a pivotal role in Leverkusen's Bundesliga triumph, their first league title in club history. That same season, he helped secure the DFB-Pokal and was part of the squad that reached the UEFA Europa League final. Recognizing his contributions, Hincapié extended his contract with Leverkusen until 2029, solidifying his commitment to the club.

On the international stage, Hincapié has been a cornerstone of the Ecuadorian national team since his debut in 2021. As of March 2025, he has earned 44 caps and scored three goals. His performances during the 2024 Copa América earned him a spot in the Team of the Tournament, underscoring his growing influence in international football.
