Ian Wright came through Crystal Palace — where he starred before his £2.5 million move to Arsenal in 1991 at 28. What followed was seven seasons of prolific goalscoring under George Graham and Arsène Wenger: a League Cup, an FA Cup and the 1997-98 Premier League and FA Cup Double. He broke Cliff Bastin's Arsenal goalscoring record that had stood for over fifty years, revealing a shirt underneath with the number of the record on it in a celebration that became one of the most joyful moments in the club's recent history.
For England he earned 33 caps — limited by the competition of the era — and scored nine international goals. After retiring he built a television and media career that has made him one of the most recognisable faces in British sport. His warmth, enthusiasm and obvious passion for the game translate from the pitch to the studio without missing a beat.
