Jersey Shore Beginnings
Bruce Springsteen was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, and grew up in nearby Freehold. He played in bands on the Jersey Shore club circuit from the mid-1960s and signed to Columbia, releasing Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle in 1973.

Born to Run
The breakthrough came with Born to Run in 1975, a big, cinematic record that made him a star. Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978) and the double album The River (1980) cemented his reputation, while the E Street Band became famous for marathon live shows.
In 1982 he went the other way with Nebraska, a stark solo album recorded at home.

Born in the U.S.A. (1984) turned him into a global superstar. In 1994 "Streets of Philadelphia" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, and The Rising (2002) reunited him with the E Street Band. His one-man show Springsteen on Broadway ran from 2017 to 2018 and returned in 2021.

The Lost Albums and a Biopic
The 2023-2025 world tour became the highest-grossing of his career. In June 2025 he released Tracks II: The Lost Albums, seven unreleased albums recorded between 1983 and 2018, and in October 2025 came Nebraska '82: Expanded Edition. The same month, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White and directed by Scott Cooper, told the story of making Nebraska.
