The Maldini hoodie from Players Couture carries the name of the greatest defender in the history of football across the chest in bold lettering, contrasting colour, made to order when you place yours. Paolo Maldini spent his entire career at AC Milan, made 902 appearances for the club, won five European Cups and seven Serie A titles, and retired at the age of forty-one still playing at the highest level. He never played for another club. He never needed to.

Paolo Maldini made his debut for AC Milan in 1985 at sixteen years old and played his final game in 2009. In the twenty-four years between those two appearances, he won the European Cup or Champions League in 1989, 1990, 1994, 2003 and 2007 — five times in total, as both left-back and centre-back, across three distinct eras of the competition. He won seven Serie A titles. He earned 126 caps for Italy, captaining his country at multiple World Cups, and reached the 1994 final where Italy lost on penalties to Brazil. His father Cesare also played for Milan and Italy, and managed the national side — the football dynasty is part of the story. Maldini played the last seasons of his career at centre-back, having reinvented himself positionally in his mid-thirties without any discernible drop in quality.
