In Pro Evolution Soccer's classic-player database, licensing restrictions gave José Luis Chilavert the cult alias S.Olive. For players who spent hours editing squads or selecting the World and European Classics, that fictional name became part of the game's mythology. Behind it was José Luis Chilavert: Paraguay's captain and three-time IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper was as famous for free-kicks and penalties as for saves. Chilavert won major honours with Vélez Sarsfield, scored more than sixty senior goals and remains the only goalkeeper to register a hat-trick in a professional match.
Why the two names? The chest print uses S.Olive, the fictional classic-player name remembered from PES, while the footballer behind the avatar is José Luis Chilavert. It is a small piece of gaming history for supporters who knew the player before every classic squad was fully licensed.
