In Pro Evolution Soccer's classic-player database, licensing restrictions gave Roberto Ayala the cult alias S.Padial. For players who spent hours editing squads or selecting the World and European Classics, that fictional name became part of the game's mythology. Behind it was Roberto Ayala: Ayala won league titles and the UEFA Cup with Valencia, lifted Olympic gold with Argentina and earned more than a century of international caps. Nicknamed El Ratón, he played far bigger than his height through anticipation, spring and uncompromising concentration.
Why the two names? The chest print uses S.Padial, the fictional classic-player name remembered from PES, while the footballer behind the avatar is Roberto Ayala. It is a small piece of gaming history for supporters who knew the player before every classic squad was fully licensed.
