The story behind the name
Hawk turned professional as a teenager, dominated vert competition and landed the first televised 900 at the 1999 X Games. That same year Tony Hawk's Pro Skater arrived, beginning a video-game series that introduced skate culture, music and trick language to millions. Through Birdhouse and The Skatepark Project, his legacy also includes building opportunities and places to skate long after his contest career ended.
