Zheng announced herself with the WTA Newcomer of the Year award in 2022 and reached her first Grand Slam final at the 2024 Australian Open. Later that year she won Olympic singles gold in Paris, a landmark achievement for Chinese tennis, before reaching the WTA Finals championship match. Powerful from the baseline and capable of taking over points with her serve and forehand, she has become one of the tour's most recognisable competitors.
