The story behind the name

In Pro Evolution Soccer's classic-player database, licensing restrictions gave Gabriel Batistuta the cult alias J.Hull. For players who spent hours editing squads or selecting the World and European Classics, that fictional name became part of the game's mythology. Behind it was Gabriel Batistuta: Batistuta became Fiorentina's all-time Serie A scoring icon and stayed through relegation before later winning the league with Roma. Argentina's great number nine scored ten World Cup goals and hat-tricks at two different tournaments, combining ferocious shooting with relentless penalty-box movement.

Why the two names? The chest print uses J.Hull, the fictional classic-player name remembered from PES, while the footballer behind the avatar is Gabriel Batistuta. It is a small piece of gaming history for supporters who knew the player before every classic squad was fully licensed.
