Jorge Campos was one of the most recognisable goalkeepers of his generation. Born in Acapulco, Mexico, he became famous for his explosive athleticism, fearless sweeping, acrobatic saves and self-designed colourful goalkeeper kits. Unlike most keepers, Campos was also capable of playing as a striker, scoring goals during his club career and becoming one of football’s most unique personalities.

Campos made his name with UNAM Pumas, where he won the Mexican Primera División in 1990–91 and became a fan favourite. He also played for Atlante, LA Galaxy, Cruz Azul, Chicago Fire, Tigres UANL and Puebla. His time in Major League Soccer helped grow his global cult status, while his spells in Mexico made him a hero for generations of football fanatics.

For Mexico, Campos earned over 120 international caps and became an icon of El Tri. He started at the 1994 World Cup in the USA and the 1998 World Cup in France, producing memorable performances in some of the most watched football tournaments of the era. He was also part of the Mexico squad at the 2002 World Cup. His international career included Gold Cup success, Copa América appearances and the famous 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup win with Mexico.
