Les Ferdinand scored 50 goals in 84 appearances for Newcastle following his 1995 move from QPR, forming with Alan Shearer the most feared centre-forward partnership in the Premier League that season. The combination of Ferdinand’s physical presence, aerial quality and finishing with Shearer’s clinical instinct gave Newcastle’s Entertainers attack a two-man threat that opponents committed multiple defenders to containing and rarely neutralised successfully.

Ferdinand’s Newcastle years coincided with the club’s closest approach to the Premier League title in the modern era, and his contribution was central to the most entertaining team supporters still recall watching. His subsequent Premier League career at Tottenham and West Ham added further distinction to a striker who was among the very best of his generation.
