Martin Peters scored in the 1966 World Cup final against West Germany at Wembley, won the FA Cup and the European Cup Winners’ Cup with West Ham United, and was one of the key creative midfielders of his generation. Sir Alf Ramsey described him as ten years ahead of his time for his ability to arrive late into attacking positions from midfield and score — a style that became standard across European football a decade later. For England, he earned 67 caps and scored 20 international goals.
