In addition to his time at Leeds, Hunter also enjoyed a successful spell with Bristol City from 1976 to 1979, before finishing his playing career at Barnsley.

Hunter’s talents were recognised on the international stage as well. He earned 28 caps for the England national team between 1965 and 1974. Although he didn't play in a major international tournament, his performances in friendlies and qualification matches showed his skill and commitment to his country.
