Finchley to London 2012
Joshua learned his trade at Finchley ABC and rose fast. He won the ABA title in 2010 and 2011, took silver at the 2011 World Championships and then, on home soil, won super-heavyweight gold at the London 2012 Olympics. He was made an MBE in the 2013 New Year Honours.

Wembley and the Klitschko Classic
As a professional, Joshua won the British and Commonwealth titles and then the IBF world title, stopping Charles Martin in two rounds in April 2016. A year later, in front of a huge crowd at Wembley, he stopped Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round, a fight The Ring named its Fight of the Year for 2017. He added the WBO belt by outpointing Joseph Parker in 2018.

Ruiz, Redemption and Usyk
In June 2019 Joshua suffered a shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr, but six months later he boxed brilliantly to win the rematch on points and become a two-time unified champion. He defended against Kubrat Pulev in 2020 before back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

The Road to Fury
Joshua rebuilt with wins over Jermaine Franklin, Otto Wallin and Robert Helenius in 2023 and a two-round knockout of Francis Ngannou in March 2024. A loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley that September was a setback, but wins over Jake Paul and Kristian Prenga set up the Fury fight at last.
