From Comic Book to Cable Hit
Robert Kirkman's comic launched in 2003, and Frank Darabont developed it for AMC. The pilot aired on Halloween 2010 and immediately found a huge audience. Season 1 was filmed in Atlanta, and later seasons moved to Riverwood Studios near Senoia, Georgia, where the town also stood in for Woodbury.

Rick, Daryl and the Survivors
Andrew Lincoln led the cast as Rick Grimes, but fans quickly fell for Norman Reedus's crossbow-wielding Daryl Dixon, a character created especially for the show. Melissa McBride's Carol, Lauren Cohan's Maggie, Danai Gurira's Michonne and Steven Yeun's Glenn all became fan favourites, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan arrived as Negan in season 7.
The season 5 premiere in October 2014 drew 17.3 million viewers, the series' biggest audience.

A Growing Universe
