Alan Shearer Newcastle United Kids Hoodie | Players Couture

Alan Shearer turned down Manchester United in 1996 to come home to Newcastle — and scored 206 goals for the club over ten seasons. He remains the Premier League's all-time leading scorer, and every one of those goals came either at Blackburn or at the club he supported as a boy. That choice, and everything that followed, is what makes Shearer's story one of the great loyalty narratives in English football.

At St James' Park, Shearer was more than a goalscorer. He was the captain who stayed when the club was relegated. He was the face of the club through its most ambitious years under Kevin Keegan and then its most difficult years in the divisions below. His record of 206 goals in black and white puts him in territory that no Newcastle forward has come close to approaching since, and his connection with the Geordie fanbase remains total. The number nine shirt is still spoken of differently at Newcastle because of what Shearer did in it.
