Dwight Yorke spent seven years at Aston Villa from 1989 to 1998, scoring 98 goals for the club and becoming one of the most popular players to represent the claret and blue in the modern era. The Trinidad & Tobago international brought joy to Villa Park — literally, in the sense that his playing style was built on movement, intelligence and the kind of smile that made watching him feel like a treat regardless of the scoreline. His subsequent move to Manchester United to win the Treble was bittersweet for Villa supporters who had seen the best years of his development.

Yorke's Villa career culminated in seasons that demonstrated what a natural goalscorer he was — his ability to arrive in the box at the right moment, his composure in one-on-one situations and his partnership with strikers around him all reflecting a player who made difficult finishing look straightforward. The Treble he won at United in 1999, with his partnership with Andy Cole becoming one of the most celebrated in Premier League history, built on foundations laid at Villa Park during his formative years in England.
