Kevin Keegan Newcastle United Hoodie | Players Couture
Kevin Keegan returned to Newcastle United as manager in February 1992 with the club bottom of the Second Division and transformed them into Premier League contenders within two seasons, then built the Entertainers side that came within a point of the title in 1995-96. His two separate connections to the club — as a player in the early 1980s who gave the Gallowgate their first genuine star of the modern era, and as the manager who gave them the most entertaining football they had seen — make him the most important individual in Newcastle's modern history.
Keegan's managerial Newcastle side was built on attacking football and the belief that entertainment and winning were not mutually exclusive. Andy Cole and then Alan Shearer led the attack, Peter Beardsley created behind them, and the 4-3 defeat to Liverpool in 1996 — watched by the country and replayed ever since — was the moment that best captured what that team represented: extraordinary football, genuine title contention, and the kind of openness that ultimately cost them the championship when it mattered. The I'd Love It speech that followed the collapse of that challenge remains one of football's great moments of raw managerial emotion.
If you're a Newcastle fan or looking for a gift for a Keegan supporter, this Players Couture design captures him in the black and white of St James' Park in the Pantone-card illustration style.
The t-shirt is made from 100% premium cotton with a regular unisex fit, available in White, Navy, Red, Black and Grey in sizes XS to 5XL. Every piece is made to order at our studio in Manchester — nothing is held in stock, so your order is produced fresh just for you.
