About Lev Yashin

Lev Yashin, born in 1929, made his name as a goalkeeper with Dynamo Moscow, where he spent his entire club career from 1950 to 1970. His commanding presence in goal and remarkable reflexes earned him the nickname “The Black Spider,” a nod to his all-black kit and his ability to seemingly stop shots from every angle. Yashin's record includes over 270 clean sheets, and he is the only goalkeeper to ever win the prestigious Ballon d'Or, doing so in 1963. His leadership and contributions to the Soviet Union national team were just as legendary, playing in four World Cups and two European Championships.

His incredible achievements on the pitch also include numerous domestic titles, with Dynamo Moscow clinching multiple Soviet Top League championships during his tenure. Yashin's career is a benchmark for modern goalkeepers, known for his incredible agility, daring saves, and his ability to organize and inspire his defence.
