Marcus Joseph Tavernier, born in Leeds in March 1999, has rapidly built a reputation as one of England’s most versatile attacking talents. He operates mainly as a midfielder or winger and is currently plying his trade with AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Club Career & Rise

Tavernier’s youth career included time with Newcastle United before moving on to join Middlesbrough’s academy at under-14 level.
He made his senior debut for Middlesbrough in a League Cup match, then went on loan to Milton Keynes Dons in 2018 to gain first-team experience.
Later, he established himself at Middlesbrough in the Championship, making over 130 appearances and contributing goals.
In August 2022 he sealed a move to Bournemouth on a multi-year deal, stepping up to England’s top tier. Since then, he’s added Premier League goals and creative spark to the Cherries’ attacking line.
As of 2025, he’s extended his contract at Bournemouth through 2029, signalling the club’s faith in him.

He featured in England U19 and U20 squads, including participating in the UEFA European U19 Championship and the Toulon Tournament.
