Frank Rijkaard AC Milan Hoodie | Players Couture

Frank Rijkaard won the European Cup twice with AC Milan — in 1989 and 1990 — as the midfield organiser who allowed Gullit and Van Basten to operate with the freedom that Sacchi’s system required. His combination of defensive intelligence, physical presence and availability in possession made him the ideal connector between a defence of exceptional organisation and an attack of extraordinary quality.

Rijkaard’s contribution to Euro 1988 with the Netherlands and his later management of Barcelona to the 2006 Champions League demonstrated a football intelligence that extended well beyond his playing days. His Milan years represent one of the finest individual contributions to a club’s most celebrated era in European football history.
