Georgi Kinkladze Manchester City T-Shirt | Players Couture

Georgi Kinkladze played for Manchester City between 1995 and 1998 and produced some of the most technically accomplished individual football the club’s fans had seen — in the lower divisions, in front of crowds who appreciated every touch of the ball because of the quality of what he did with it. His dribbling, his close control and his capacity for the spectacular gave Maine Road something to celebrate through two relegation seasons.

Kinkladze’s goal against Southampton in March 1996 was voted one of the Premier League’s greatest and demonstrated a player whose ability was simply mismatched with the circumstances around him. His loyalty to City through those difficult years built a connection with supporters that the usual dynamics of football rarely produce.
