Peter Crouch scored goals for England, danced the robot at the 2006 World Cup and became one of the most beloved England players of his era. At 6 feet 7 inches, he was the tallest player to have a significant impact in the Premier League and the international game in the modern era, and he used every inch of that height to score 22 goals in 42 England appearances. The robot celebration at the 2006 World Cup in Germany made him a cultural figure beyond football. Crouch was born in Macclesfield in 1981 and came through the academies at Tottenham and QPR before a career that took him through Aston Villa, Southampton, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Spurs, Stoke City and Burnley. He won the FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008 and was a key player for Liverpool in the 2006-07 Champions League campaign. For England he was often a substitute who changed matches, scoring crucial goals from the bench and starting when needed. His aerial ability, his hold-up play and his surprisingly good technical quality for his height made him one of the most effective impact players England had.

The robot celebration happened after his goal against Trinidad and Tobago at the 2006 World Cup. He stood in front of the crowd and did the robot. The footage has been shared millions of times since.
