It gives fans a distinctive way to celebrate a favourite player without limiting the hoodie to match days or baseball events.
Reggie Jackson was a power hitter who appeared to become more dangerous as the pressure increased. His long left-handed swing generated 563 career home runs, but the timing of his most famous hits made him a legend. When the season reached October and championships were decided, Jackson repeatedly demonstrated the confidence and ability to control the biggest stage.
Born in Abington, Pennsylvania, Jackson excelled in several sports before pursuing a professional baseball career. He entered the major leagues with the Kansas City Athletics in 1967 and remained with the organisation after its relocation to Oakland. His combination of power, athleticism and personality soon made him one of the most recognisable players in the American League.
Jackson hit 47 home runs in 1969 and helped transform Oakland into a championship contender. The Athletics went on to win three consecutive World Series titles from 1972 to 1974. Although an injury kept him out of the 1972 World Series, he had played an important role in helping the team reach that stage.
His 1973 season was one of the finest of his career. Jackson led the American League with 32 home runs, 117 runs batted in, 99 runs scored, a .531 slugging percentage and a .914 OPS. He was voted the American League Most Valuable Player before helping Oakland defeat the New York Mets in seven games to retain the World Series championship.
Jackson batted .310 in that series, producing a home run, six runs batted in and several important extra-base hits. His contribution brought the World Series Most Valuable Player Award, establishing his postseason reputation several years before his most famous performance in New York.
Three Swings That Created a Yankees Legend
After spending the 1976 season with Baltimore, Jackson entered free agency and signed with the New York Yankees. The move placed one of baseball’s biggest stars in its most demanding environment. Jackson arrived with championship experience, supreme confidence and a personality perfectly suited to the attention surrounding the club.
He helped the Yankees win 100 games in 1977, contributing 32 home runs and 110 runs batted in during the regular season. New York advanced through the American League Championship Series and met the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.
Jackson hit a home run in Game 4 and another in Game 5 before producing his historic performance in Game 6. After walking in his first plate appearance, he hit home runs in three consecutive at-bats. Each was struck from the first pitch he saw, and each came against a different pitcher.
His first home run went over the right-field wall. The second followed in the next inning before the third was launched deep into the centre-field seats at Yankee Stadium. The crowd understood it was witnessing something exceptional. New York completed the victory, secured its first World Series championship in 15 years and gained a new postseason hero.
Jackson became the first player to hit five home runs in a single World Series and finished the contest with eight runs batted in and 25 total bases. He was named World Series Most Valuable Player for the second time, joining the small group of players to win that award on multiple occasions. The performance permanently attached the nickname “Mr. October” to his career.
The Yankees returned to the World Series in 1978 for another meeting with the Dodgers. Jackson again made a major contribution, producing two home runs and an OPS of 1.196 during the series. New York won four consecutive games after losing the opening two, capturing a second straight championship.
Jackson remained with the Yankees through 1981. During his five seasons in the Bronx, the team reached the postseason four times, won three American League pennants and secured two World Series titles. He was selected as an All-Star during each of those five seasons and won a Silver Slugger Award in 1980 after hitting 41 home runs with 111 runs batted in and a .300 batting average.
He subsequently played five seasons with the California Angels before returning to Oakland for the final year of his career in 1987. Jackson retired with 2,584 hits, 563 home runs, 1,702 runs batted in and a .490 slugging percentage across 21 seasons.

Five Championships and a Hall of Fame Career
Across five World Series appearances, Jackson batted .357 with 10 home runs and 24 runs batted in. He completed his career with five championship rings: three earned with Oakland and two with New York. He was selected for 14 All-Star teams, led the American League in home runs four times, won two Silver Slugger Awards and received the 1973 American League Most Valuable Player Award.
Jackson entered the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993 after receiving 93.6 per cent of the vote in his first year of eligibility. The Yankees retired his number 44 during the same year, while Oakland later retired number 9 in recognition of his contribution to its championship dynasty.
His influence cannot be measured solely through home-run totals. Jackson embraced the entertainment and pressure of professional sport, creating memorable rivalries and performances while ensuring that fans always had something to discuss. Most importantly, he delivered when championships were being decided, giving his nickname a meaning that has lasted for generations.
