Roger Clemens Men’s T-Shirt – Houston Astros Baseball Pitching Legend
Celebrate the extraordinary career of one of baseball’s most dominant pitchers with this Roger Clemens men’s T-shirt from Players Couture. Created for Houston Astros supporters, baseball fans and fanatics who remember the power and intensity of “The Rocket”, it offers a stylish way to represent a player who won more Cy Young Awards than anyone else in the history of the game.
The design features a colourful, poster-style graphic of Roger Clemens positioned as a badge on the left chest. Its compact placement gives the T-shirt a clean and contemporary appearance while capturing the unmistakable presence Clemens brought to the mound. It is distinctive baseball clothing that can be worn to watch a game, meet friends or become part of an everyday casual outfit.
Clemens built his career around an intimidating combination of power, control and competitive intensity. His fastball overwhelmed hitters, while his splitter gave him a devastating option when ahead in the count. He attacked the strike zone with complete confidence and remained an elite pitcher across several generations of major-league talent.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, and raised in Texas, Clemens attended the University of Texas and helped the Longhorns win the 1983 College World Series. He was selected by Boston in the first round of the 1983 draft and made his major-league debut the following year.
His first truly historic season arrived in 1986. Clemens finished with a 24–4 record, a 2.48 earned run average and 238 strikeouts. During an April game against Seattle, he became the first pitcher to record 20 strikeouts in a nine-inning major-league contest. His performances earned him both the American League Cy Young Award and the league’s Most Valuable Player Award.
Clemens won further Cy Young Awards in 1987 and 1991 before completing his long spell in Boston. He joined Toronto in 1997 and produced consecutive pitching Triple Crowns, leading the American League in victories, ERA and strikeouts in both 1997 and 1998. He won the Cy Young Award in each season, taking his total to five.
A move to New York brought team success as Clemens helped the Yankees win consecutive World Series championships in 1999 and 2000. He collected his sixth Cy Young Award in 2001 after recording 20 victories and helping New York return to the World Series.
A Record-Breaking Cy Young Season in Houston
After initially announcing his retirement, Clemens returned to his home state and joined the Houston Astros for the 2004 season. The move united him with former Yankees teammate Andy Pettitte and placed one of baseball’s greatest pitchers in front of supporters close to his Texas home.
Clemens immediately demonstrated that he could still dominate. He began the season by winning his first nine decisions and eventually finished with an 18–4 record, a 2.98 ERA and 218 strikeouts. He made the National League All-Star team and helped Houston recover from a difficult start to secure a place in the postseason.
The Astros defeated Atlanta in the Division Series to record the first postseason series victory in franchise history. Houston then faced St. Louis in a dramatic National League Championship Series that lasted seven games. Although the Astros fell one victory short of the World Series, the campaign represented an important step forward for the club.
Clemens was named the 2004 National League Cy Young Award winner. It was the seventh Cy Young of his career, extending a record that remains unmatched. He also became one of the select pitchers to win the award in both the American and National leagues.
He returned to Houston in 2005 and delivered one of the best seasons ever produced by a pitcher in his forties. Clemens recorded a 1.87 ERA across 32 starts, the lowest figure in the major leagues. His win-loss record of 13–8 did not fully reflect his performances, as Houston frequently struggled to provide runs when he pitched.
The Astros returned to the postseason and defeated Atlanta before overcoming St. Louis in the National League Championship Series. The victory sent Houston to the World Series for the first time in franchise history. Clemens started the opening game against the Chicago White Sox but was forced to leave after two innings because of a hamstring problem. Houston eventually lost the closely contested series in four games.
Clemens played one further season with the Astros in 2006. After joining the rotation partway through the campaign, he posted a 2.30 ERA across 19 starts. He also represented the United States at the inaugural World Baseball Classic earlier that year, becoming one of the most experienced players involved in the new international tournament.
One of Baseball’s Most Remarkable Pitching Records
Clemens completed his major-league career with the Yankees in 2007. Across 24 seasons, he recorded 354 victories, 184 defeats, a 3.12 ERA and 4,672 strikeouts in 4,916⅔ innings. His strikeout total remains the third highest in major-league history.
His career included 11 All-Star selections, seven ERA titles, five seasons with at least 20 victories and two World Series championships. He also became the first pitcher to strike out 20 batters in a nine-inning game and later repeated the achievement in 1996.

A Career Accompanied by Debate
Any complete account of Clemens’ career must acknowledge the controversy surrounding allegations of performance-enhancing drug use. His name appeared in the Mitchell Report, although Clemens has consistently denied using banned substances. He was later acquitted of federal charges connected with testimony he gave to Congress.
The allegations have had a significant effect on consideration of his Hall of Fame candidacy. Clemens did not receive the required support during his ten years on the writers’ ballot and was not elected by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee for the 2026 induction class. He therefore remains outside the National Baseball Hall of Fame despite holding one of the most decorated statistical records in pitching history.
Fans continue to debate how his achievements should be assessed. This design recognises the playing career, historic performances and memories associated with Clemens’ three seasons in Houston while acknowledging that the wider story remains complex.
