Steve Largent Seattle Seahawks Men’s T-Shirt – Legendary Number 80 Fan Clothing

Represent one of the greatest wide receivers in American football history with the Steve Largent Seattle Seahawks men’s T-shirt from Players Couture. Created for Seattle supporters, number 80 fanatics and admirers of exceptional consistency, this distinctive piece of clothing celebrates the precise routes, reliable hands and record-breaking career that made Largent a hero to the Seahawks’ first generation of fans.

The design features a colourful, poster-style Steve Largent graphic positioned as a compact badge on the left chest. Measuring approximately 10 cm high, the artwork provides a recognisable player tribute while retaining a clean, contemporary appearance. It can be worn as everyday fan clothing as well as for match days and special sporting occasions. Developing into a Record-Breaker at Tulsa

Steve Largent was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1954 and attended the University of Tulsa. He did not possess the imposing physical size or exceptional sprinting speed traditionally associated with leading professional receiving prospects. Instead, he developed through concentration, preparation, route running and an ability to complete difficult catches.

Largent played for Tulsa from 1973 through 1975. He led the country with 14 touchdown receptions in both 1974 and 1975, demonstrating an ability to find space and finish scoring opportunities. His final college season included 51 catches for exactly 1,000 yards.

Across his Tulsa career, Largent recorded 136 receptions for 2,385 yards and 32 touchdowns, averaging 17.5 yards per catch. He earned two All-Missouri Valley Conference selections and received Second-Team All-American recognition in 1975.

His achievements were later recognised through induction into the University of Tulsa Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. Before those honours arrived, however, Largent had to overcome considerable uncertainty about whether he would even receive an opportunity in the professional game.

A Trade That Transformed Seattle

The Houston Oilers selected Largent in the fourth round of the 1976 draft. After spending the preseason with Houston, he appeared likely to be released. Seattle, preparing for its first season as an expansion franchise, acquired him for a future eighth-round draft selection.

The modest trade became one of the most successful deals in American football history. Largent joined a new team that had no established records, traditions or recognised star players. He immediately became an important part of Seattle’s offence, catching 54 passes for 705 yards during the franchise’s opening season.

While the expansion Seahawks experienced predictable difficulties, Largent gave supporters a player around whom they could build a connection with the new team. He remained in Seattle for his entire 14-season career and developed into the first great player in franchise history.

Precision, Preparation and Exceptional Hands

Largent succeeded without relying on overwhelming size or pace. He studied defensive backs, disguised his intended route and made precise changes of direction. His understanding of timing allowed him to create separation against opponents who appeared faster in a straight sprint.

He also possessed exceptional concentration. Whether the pass arrived high, low or through defensive contact, Largent maintained focus on the ball. He worked closely with quarterbacks including Jim Zorn and Dave Krieg, building the trust required for them to deliver passes before he had completed his route.

Largent recorded 643 receiving yards and ten touchdowns during his second professional season. From 1978 through 1981, he produced four consecutive campaigns with more than 1,000 yards. His 1,237 yards in 1979 led the league, confirming his position among the leading receivers in the sport.

Even when opponents understood that Largent was Seattle’s primary target, he continued to find space. He recorded a reception in 177 consecutive games, demonstrating remarkable consistency across changing opponents, quarterbacks and offensive systems.

Helping Seattle Reach the Playoffs

The Seahawks gradually developed from an expansion team into a genuine contender. Under head coach Chuck Knox, Seattle reached the postseason for the first time following the 1983 regular season.

Seattle defeated Denver 31–7 in the wildcard round before travelling to face Miami. The Seahawks produced a 27–20 victory, advancing to the AFC Championship Game. Their run ended against the eventual champion Los Angeles Raiders, but the journey represented an important breakthrough for the franchise.

Seattle improved to 12–4 in 1984 and returned to the playoffs. The Seahawks defeated the Raiders in the opening round before losing to Miami. Largent remained the reliable receiving figure within an offence also featuring players such as Dave Krieg and running back Curt Warner.

During the 1985 season, Largent recorded 79 receptions for 1,287 yards and six touchdowns. He earned First-Team All-Pro recognition after another outstanding individual campaign.

Records and Memorable Rivalries

Largent continued to produce into the later years of his career. His competitiveness was particularly evident during Seattle’s rivalry with Denver. In a 1988 meeting, Broncos defensive back Mike Harden intercepted a pass intended for Largent. The receiver pursued the play and delivered a perfectly timed tackle that forced a fumble, which Largent recovered.

The moment carried additional significance because a previous Harden hit had injured Largent. Rather than respond outside the rules, Largent waited for an opportunity within the game and produced a clean, forceful play that remains one of the most remembered tackles by an offensive player.

Seattle won its first AFC West division title in 1988 and returned to the playoffs. The achievement gave Largent another opportunity to represent the Seahawks in the postseason before his retirement following the 1989 campaign.

Retiring with the Major Receiving Records

Largent completed his career with 819 receptions, 13,089 receiving yards and 100 touchdown catches. At the time of his retirement, all three totals were professional records. He was the first player to reach 100 receiving touchdowns and had also established records with ten seasons of at least 50 catches and eight 1,000-yard campaigns.

He played 200 games for Seattle and started 197, making him one of the most dependable players of his generation. Largent earned seven Pro Bowl selections and multiple All-Pro honours while being named to the All-Decade Team of the 1980s.

Although Seattle did not reach a Super Bowl during his career, Largent helped transform a new expansion franchise into a playoff team and division champion. His influence therefore extends beyond the individual records he accumulated.

In 1988, Largent received the league’s Man of the Year award, recognising his contribution on the field and within the community. The Seahawks subsequently named an annual team award after him, presented to the player who best represents the spirit, dedication and integrity associated with the franchise.

A Permanent Seahawks Legacy

Largent became the first player inducted into the Seahawks Ring of Honor and the first to have his number retired by the team. Number 80 became permanently associated with the receiver who had helped establish Seattle’s identity.

In 1995, Largent entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility. He was the first player known primarily for a Seahawks career to receive the honour. His later selection for the league’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team confirmed his place among the greatest receivers from every era.

Following his playing career, Largent also served Oklahoma in the United States House of Representatives. His post-football public career added another chapter to a life already defined by discipline and commitment.

International Context

American football did not provide receivers of Largent’s era with a regular senior national-team career or an established international championship. He therefore did not represent the United States in a World Cup-style sporting competition.

His career nevertheless gained an international following as American football broadcasts reached fans in the UK and Europe. For overseas Seahawks supporters interested in the history of the franchise, Largent remains the essential starting point: the first Seattle superstar and the player who established the original receiving standards.

How to Wear Your Steve Largent T-Shirt

This men’s T-shirt is made for Seahawks supporters, number 80 collectors, wide receiver fanatics and anyone who regards Largent as a favourite sporting hero. Wear it for Sunday fixtures, late-night UK broadcasts, playoff gatherings, stadium visits, sports-bar meet-ups or relaxed occasions with friends and family.

Pair it with jeans and trainers for a straightforward everyday outfit, or combine it with cargo trousers, shorts or joggers. During cooler UK weather, layer it beneath a zip hoodie, overshirt or jacket. The compact left-chest badge provides a distinctive tribute without overwhelming the rest of the clothing combination.

The Steve Largent T-shirt is available in White, Black, Red, Navy and Grey, with adult sizes ranging from S through 3XL. Navy provides a natural Seattle-inspired option, while Black offers a versatile darker base. White and Grey create lighter alternatives, and Red supplies a bolder choice.

Made to Order by Players Couture

No completed T-shirt stock is produced before an order is received. Each garment is prepared on a made-to-order basis for the individual fan who selects it. This helps Players Couture reduce unnecessary overproduction while providing supporters with a distinctive alternative to conventional sports merchandise.

An Independent Steve Largent Fan Tribute

This Players Couture design is an independently created tribute inspired by admiration for Steve Largent and his sporting achievements. It is not intended to mislead customers, suggest an unauthorised commercial relationship or infringe upon the rights of any player, team or organisation. The artwork is presented in good faith within the spirit of fan expression and fair usage.

If a relevant rights holder does not share the positive intentions behind the design and raises a concern, Players Couture is willing to review the matter and remove the product where appropriate. The brand also hopes to collaborate with featured players or their representatives in the future, providing an agreed royalty or directing a share of sales towards charitable causes supported by the player.

For a friend, family member or lifelong Seattle supporter, this T-shirt is a distinctive way to represent number 80 and celebrate the receiver who gave a new franchise its first sporting hero.
