Brady’s Michigan Development

Tom Brady was born in San Mateo, California, in 1977 and grew up following Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers. His own route towards becoming a leading quarterback was far from straightforward.

At the University of Michigan, Brady had to compete repeatedly for the starting position. He eventually started 25 consecutive games across his final two seasons and recorded 20 victories. His Michigan career concluded with 5,351 passing yards.

Brady’s final college game came against Alabama in the Orange Bowl. Michigan fell 14 points behind on two separate occasions, but Brady threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns to force overtime. The Wolverines completed a 35–34 victory.

That performance did not dramatically improve his draft position. New England selected Brady with the 199th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2000 draft. He spent his rookie season as a reserve and entered 2001 behind Drew Bledsoe.

The Beginning of a Dynasty

Bledsoe suffered an injury during the second game of the 2001 season, creating an opportunity for Brady. New England had won only five games the previous year, but its new starter helped the team complete an 11–5 record and win the division.

The Patriots defeated Oakland in a memorable snow game and then overcame Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship Game. Super Bowl XXXVI brought a meeting with the St. Louis Rams, whose powerful offence made them substantial favourites.

New England created a lead before the Rams recovered to tie the contest. Brady responded by moving the Patriots into field-goal range during the closing seconds. Adam Vinatieri converted the winning kick as New England secured its first championship with a 20–17 victory.

Brady became the youngest winning starting quarterback in Super Bowl history at the time and received the game’s Most Valuable Player award. The overlooked 199th selection had become a champion during his first season as a starter.

Back-to-Back Championships

New England returned to the final after the 2003 season. Brady passed for 354 yards and three touchdowns against Carolina in Super Bowl XXXVIII. With the score tied late, he again completed the passes needed to create a winning field-goal opportunity. The Patriots won 32–29.

The team defended its championship during the following season. New England defeated Indianapolis and Pittsburgh before beating Philadelphia 24–21 in Super Bowl XXXIX.

The Patriots had won three championships in four seasons. Brady’s performances were supported by a strong defence, disciplined special teams and a coaching structure capable of changing its strategy for every opponent. His willingness to prioritise team requirements became an important part of the formula.

Fifty Touchdowns and a Perfect Regular Season

The 2007 Patriots introduced a more aggressive passing attack after adding receivers Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Brady responded with 4,806 yards and 50 touchdown passes, breaking the existing single-season scoring record.

New England completed the first 16–0 regular season and progressed to the Super Bowl with an 18–0 overall record. Brady received the league MVP award after every first-place vote went to him.

The Patriots led the New York Giants late in Super Bowl XLII, but the Giants completed an improbable final drive and won 17–14. New England’s attempt to finish as an unbeaten champion had ended at the final stage.

Brady suffered a major knee injury during the opening game of the 2008 campaign. He missed the remainder of the season but returned the following year and continued leading the Patriots to division titles.

In 2010, he threw 36 touchdowns and only four interceptions. Brady received his second league MVP award and again collected every first-place vote.

Super Bowl XLIX and a Fourth Ring

New England returned to the Super Bowl following the 2011 season but suffered another narrow defeat against the Giants. The Patriots remained among the leading contenders, with Brady developing particularly productive partnerships with Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman.

After the 2014 campaign, New England defeated Baltimore and Indianapolis to reach Super Bowl XLIX against defending champion Seattle. The Patriots trailed by ten points in the fourth quarter before Brady completed touchdown drives ending with passes to Danny Amendola and Edelman.

Seattle advanced to the New England one-yard line during the closing moments, but Malcolm Butler intercepted Russell Wilson’s pass. The Patriots won 28–24, giving Brady his fourth championship and third Super Bowl MVP award.

The Greatest Super Bowl Comeback

Brady missed the opening four games of the 2016 season but returned to lead New England to a 14–2 record and another AFC title. The Patriots faced Atlanta in Super Bowl LI.

New England endured a disastrous opening and trailed 28–3 during the third quarter. Brady nevertheless continued moving the offence, gradually reducing the deficit as the Patriots defence produced important stops.

New England scored 31 unanswered points across five of its final six possessions. Brady completed a championship-game record 43 passes for 466 yards. Two successful two-point conversions tied the contest, while Julian Edelman produced a remarkable catch between several Atlanta defenders.

The game became the first Super Bowl to reach overtime. New England won the coin toss, and Brady led the offence down the field before James White scored the decisive touchdown. The 34–28 victory completed the largest comeback in the event’s history.

Brady collected his fifth championship and fourth Super Bowl MVP award. The recovery from 28–3 behind became one of the most celebrated moments in Patriots history.

A Final MVP and Sixth New England Championship

Brady received his third league MVP award following the 2017 regular season. New England returned to the final and faced Philadelphia in Super Bowl LII.

He passed for 505 yards and three touchdowns, producing the highest passing-yard total in a Super Bowl. Philadelphia nevertheless completed a 41–33 victory.

The Patriots reached a third consecutive championship game after the 2018 season. An overtime victory at Kansas City secured another AFC title and sent New England to face the Los Angeles Rams.

Super Bowl LIII was dominated by defence. With the game tied during the fourth quarter, Brady completed passes to Gronkowski that helped create the only touchdown. New England won 13–3, providing Brady with a sixth championship during his 20 Patriots seasons.

New England Records and Recognition

Brady finished his Patriots career with 74,571 regular-season passing yards and 541 touchdowns. He led New England to 17 division titles, 13 AFC Championship Game appearances and nine Super Bowls.

His partnership with Bill Belichick produced six championships, the leading total for a quarterback and head coach during the Super Bowl era. Brady also won three league MVP awards and four Super Bowl MVP awards while representing New England.

He moved to Tampa Bay in 2020 and won a seventh championship before retiring after the 2022 season. His complete career ended with 89,214 passing yards, 649 touchdown passes, ten Super Bowl appearances and seven victories.

The Patriots inducted Brady into their Hall of Fame in 2024 and retired number 12. In 2025, New England unveiled a 12-foot statue celebrating him outside the stadium. The monument reflects the scale of a career that transformed both the player and the franchise.

Brady and the Patriots Overseas

Professional American football does not normally provide quarterbacks with a separate national-team career or an established international tournament. Brady nevertheless represented New England in several prominent games outside the United States.

He helped the Patriots defeat Tampa Bay 35–7 at Wembley Stadium in 2009. New England returned to London three years later and beat the St. Louis Rams 45–7, with Brady passing for 304 yards and four touchdowns.

In 2017, he threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns during a 33–8 victory over the Raiders in Mexico City. These appearances strengthened Brady’s connection with Patriots supporters across the UK, Europe and the wider international audience.

Who Should Wear This Tom Brady Hoodie?

This men’s hoodie is made for New England supporters, number 12 collectors, American football fanatics and anyone who regards Brady as a favourite sporting hero. It makes a thoughtful gift for a friend, partner or family member who remembers the early dynasty, the Seattle finish or the 28–3 comeback.

Wear it while watching Sunday fixtures, following the postseason, travelling to a stadium or meeting friends at a sports bar. Its additional warmth makes it ideal for autumn and winter weekends, outdoor gatherings and late-night UK broadcasts. It can also be worn for university, casual days, travel, walks and relaxed social occasions.

Colours, Sizes and Styling

The Tom Brady Patriots hoodie is available in White, Black, Red, Navy and Grey, with adult sizes ranging from S through 3XL. Navy creates a natural New England-inspired option, while Black provides a versatile darker foundation. White and Grey offer lighter sportswear alternatives, and Red supplies a bolder choice.

Pair it with jeans and trainers for a simple casual outfit, or combine it with cargo trousers or joggers. During colder conditions, layer it beneath a padded coat, gilet or waterproof jacket. The compact left-chest badge allows supporters to represent number 12 without overwhelming the rest of the clothing combination.

Produced After Your Order Is Placed

Players Couture creates this hoodie on a made-to-order basis. No completed stock is produced in advance; each garment is prepared only after a customer places an order. This helps reduce unnecessary overproduction and means every hoodie begins with a particular supporter, friend or family member in mind.
