Gary Lineker England Hoodie | Players Couture Icon Frame Collection

Gary Lineker is the cleanest goalscorer England has ever produced. Never booked in his entire professional career. Six goals at the 1986 World Cup to claim the Golden Boot. Forty-eight international goals in eighty appearances for England. A record at the 1990 World Cup that brought England to the semi-finals. This Lineker hoodie from Players Couture is for fans of the England and Barcelona legend who want to wear the name of one of the most clinical finishers the country has produced. Fan apparel built around a player who made scoring look straightforward.

Lineker was born in Leicester in 1960 and came through the academy at Leicester City, where he established himself as one of the most reliable goalscorers in the First Division. Everton signed him in 1985 and his displays attracted attention from across Europe. At the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, Lineker finished as the tournament's top scorer with six goals and won the Golden Boot. Barcelona signed him immediately after the tournament for £2.8 million and he spent five seasons at Camp Nou, competing alongside Ronaldo, Michael Laudrup and fellow Englishman Steve Archibald for a place in Johan Cruyff's attacking line.

At the 1990 World Cup in Italy, Lineker was again England's most dangerous attacking presence. He scored four goals in the tournament including the crucial equaliser against West Germany in the semi-final that kept England alive before they ultimately lost on penalties. His four goals in that tournament were the foundation of England's best World Cup run since 1966. He returned to England and finished his playing career at Tottenham before moving to Japan to play for Nagoya Grampus Eight.

His international record of 48 goals in 80 appearances for England stood for decades and remains one of the finest ratios any England striker has produced. He retired from professional football as the most celebrated England striker of his generation, without ever having received a yellow card in his entire career.
