Jackie Milburn Newcastle United Hoodie | Players Couture

Jackie Milburn scored 200 goals for Newcastle United across thirteen seasons and won three FA Cups — in 1951, 1952 and 1955. Wor Jackie is one of the great folk heroes of English football, a Tyneside boy who played for his city’s club and gave the north-east the only sustained period of major trophy success in the modern era. The statue outside St James’ Park is the most appropriate monument the club has produced.

Milburn’s pace, his right-footed shooting and his capacity to perform in the matches that mattered gave Newcastle’s supporters a centre-forward who was among the finest in the country through the late 1940s and early 1950s. The connection between his name and the Geordie identity remains total more than half a century after his retirement.
