Shaun Goater scored 103 goals for Manchester City across five seasons and became one of the most beloved strikers in the club's modern history — not because of trophies or Champions League nights, but because of what he meant to supporters who watched him during the years when City were fighting to get back to the top flight and beginning the long rebuilding process that preceded their current dominance.
