The George Weah t-shirt from Players Couture carries the name of the greatest African footballer in history and the only player from the African continent to have won the FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or awards across the chest in bold lettering, contrasting colour, made to order when you place yours. George Weah won the Ballon d’Or in 1995 while playing for AC Milan, won the African Player of the Year three times, and later became President of Liberia in 2018 — one of the most remarkable career transitions any sportsperson has made.

George Weah joined Monaco from African clubs before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, then AC Milan in 1995 — the year he won the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year. He won the Serie A title with Milan and later played for Chelsea, Manchester City and Marseille among others. For Liberia, he was never able to participate in a World Cup as his country was never strong enough to qualify — a remarkable footnote given his individual standing as the world’s best player. He was elected President of Liberia in 2017 and served until 2024.
