His club career spanned some of Europe’s most competitive leagues. Bierhoff began his professional journey in Germany with Hamburger SV, before spells at Borussia Mönchengladbach and MSV Duisburg, where he established himself as a reliable goalscorer. A return to Hamburg followed, before his move to Italy transformed his career.

At Udinese, Bierhoff enjoyed his most prolific seasons, famously finishing as Serie A’s top scorer, a rare achievement for a German forward abroad. His performances earned him a high-profile move to AC Milan, where he won major domestic honours and continued to deliver in big moments. Later chapters of his career included time at AS Monaco in Ligue 1 and Chievo Verona, before retiring from professional football.
